Primet High School's Year 9 Students Sing for PRF

In September 2003, an incredibly talented and generous group of students held “The Primet Fame Academy Competition”, a pop idol contest where those in year 9 sing and are judged by their peers. Over 200 people bought tickets to the final 10 acts, and they held a raffle for items donated by local businesses. They rasied 627BP – that’s $1,042! Congratulations to contest winners Michael, the group “Rouge” and Katie – and to the entire High School – you are ALL winners to PRF!

Brooksby Village Residents, Jr. Nat'l Honor Society members Join Forces for PRF Mailings

Volunteers from Peabody's Brooksby Village Retirement Center and Higgins Junior High School’s Jr. National Honor Society spent a Saturday gluing, folding and stuffing 3,000 gala invitations. They’ve also helped with two of our newsletter mailings. And their parting words were, any time you need us, just call!
Several people and organizations from England have joined in helping to find a cure. We thank our “British Buddies” from across the ocean!

Children Helping Children with Progeria

Led by their classmate Sarah Berns, 3rd grade students from Mrs. White's class at the Long Meadow Elementary School in Southbury, CT. held an end of the year bake sale in June 2003, donating all the proceeds to PRF. "Sarah did this all on her own", said her proud parents. "She approached the principal, her teacher and her friends, who were all very supportive, and then we told her we'd match whatever they raised." A total of $420 was donated - What a great way to start the summer!

A Volunteer gives Thanks to PRF

Even after the event, Night of Wonder 2003 continued to bring wonderful surprises of support and inspiration. In May, PRF received a donation and a lovely note from hard-working volunteer Ann Fredericks, who wrote, “Thank YOU, for letting me be part of such an amazing cause and giving me the opportunity to help. It made me feel really good about myself.” What a heroic attitude!

Danvers Savings Bank Dresses Down for PRF

On Friday, February 25, 2003, Danvers Savings Bank of Danvers, Massachusetts held a jeans day to raise money for PRF. Employees paid $5 to wear jeans for the day, with all proceeds going to PRF. An incredible $391 was raised! Many thanks to Bank employee Tara Daum for nominating PRF. Tara also helped coordinate the 2nd Annual International Race for Research on Sept. 6th.
Lots of banks, and other companies, are getting involved
in this type of community fundraiser.
Why not ask yours to participate for PRF?!

Project Progeria Sells Sushi for Science

A very industrious and philanthropic group of students from the University of Texas at Arlington got together and created Project Progeria, a student-run organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds to help find a cure. “I can’t express how touched I am by these children and their greatness”, writes President Angela Nguyen. “We feel so honored to be a part of this wonderful project, working to help these children.” Their first fundraiser was a tremendous success, surpassing their expectations by raising $500 from the sale of Oriental foods on campus. A car wash is planned for late summer or early fall. Congratulations to all the organization’s members, and thank you for your enthusiastic support!
