May 2008 - Brownstown, MI: Wild and Crazy KidsAfter being approached by middle school students Ashley, Mara, Jasmine, and Brianna about a fundraiser to benefit kids with Progeria, Heather Setlock, 6th Grade Counselor at Brownstown Middle School worked with the girls to come up with a fun idea – a “Crazy Hair Day”. Participating students paid $1 to style and color their hair anyway they wanted for one day. The event was a huge success raising over $140 in just one day! Thanks for the crazy ideas! |

April 2008 –Wildomar, CA: Counting CoinsA friend of PRF’s California Chapter, fifth-grader Devin decided she had to do something to help. She took one of our Coins to Cure Progeria© cans to school, and raised $100 for PRF. A true example of how people of all ages can use the collection cans to help make a difference!

March 2008 - Foxboro, MA: Shopping For A CauseFor the second year in a row, Deb Michienzie and her team of volunteers were successful at their annual Shop Around fundraiser, raising $8,000 to benefit PRF. The fun-filled night was everything a party should be – good food, great shopping, and great company. Party-goers sampled tasty treats, and browsed several vendor booths all for PRF! Thank you, Deb, for all your hard work and dedication to PRF’s mission.

March 2008 – Teen Collects Games, Toys, and Bracelets, oh my!13-year-old Kim Bizenov spent weeks collecting dozens of small toys, activity books, and games for children in the Progeria Clinical Drug Trial. Kim also designed and handmade special bracelets for the children, incorporating PRF’s colors and bird symbol. The kids love the bracelets, and are enjoying the other thoughtful gifts which are great to play with on the plane and while waiting at the hospital. Thanks Kim, you’re terrific!

March 2008 – Peabody, MA: Girls Sell Jewelry at Local Wal-MartNer Shalom students Lindsay, Gabrielle, Alexa, and Carley spent months crafting beautiful handmade jewelry to sell as part of their mitzvah (Hebrew for “good deed”) project. The girls made unique and colorful earrings, necklaces and bracelets, then took their goods to the Danvers, MA Wal-Mart store and sold them to delighted shoppers. These industrious young ladies also held a raffle and made sure to educate their customers on Progeria. They raised lots of awareness, and $700 – now THAT’S a true mitzvah!
