December 2008: Kansas Knitter Warms up Lucky Winner with Afghan

Sherri Morrison put her knitting needles and talents to good use by knitting a beautiful afghan, which her law firm then raffled off to benefit The Progeria Research Foundation. The event generated lots of interest among the staff, raising $135. You warmed us with gratitude for the time and energy you put into this project, Sherri!

November 2008 – Coventry, RI: Student “kicks butt” to raise money and awareness for PRF!

Another successful bake sale – and for the first time, at a Tae Kwon Do school! Laurie of Green, RI, raised $100 for PRF at the New England Tae Kwon Do Center in nearby Coventry. Laurie made flyers about Progeria and spoke to two Saturday classes. The sale nearly sold out, raising $78, and the school’s owner Mr. Leahy, donated an additional $22 to bring the total to $100. Thanks for demonstrating your skills in and out of the classroom, Laurie, and showing that bake sales can be held in all kinds of places!

November 2008: Kids Helping Kids - it's the BEST!

Charlotte, Lauren and Savannah of Boxford, MA are industrious young ladies! They ran their own "Pennies for Progeria" campaign at their school, Spofford Pond Elementary, and raised $188 - WOW! Many thanks for your hard work and dedication to children with Progeria, girls. We hope you inspire others your age to do the same!

September 2008 – Fort Montgomery, NY: Rodbenders Rev Their Engines for PRF

Members of the Rodbenders Car Club of New York raised $5,000 for PRF at their weekly Car Cruise, where car fans opened their hearts and wallets to help the cause. Special thanks to both the Orange County Hogs and Bear Mountain State Park for their help in Driving the Cure for Progeria!

September 2008 - “Just when you think you’ve heard everything…”

We’ve had people climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, parachute from a plane and sumo wrestle for Progeria – all wild and crazy events that made us laugh and shake our heads with wonder at the lengths people will go to support Progeria research. Here’s another one – we invite you to think of a unique way to raise money, too

Savage and Associates employee Benji Steinberg told his co-workers if they raised $500 he would shave his (very) full head of hair off. They ended up raising almost $900, and Benji was true to his word – the “event” took place in the company parking lot with a huge crowd, an emcee and good-natured Benji in a hula skirt!

Ohio chapter leader Tim Halko gives fellow worker Benji a close shave.

And the fun didn’t stop there – Stacey Rankin then told everyone at work that she would shave her head if they raised $30,000. Company leaders then “punk’d” her by presenting Tim with a “check” for $30,000! After a very stressful few minutes for Stacey they told her it was a joke.

With a company match, Savage and Associates employees have raised over $6,000 for PRF.

July 2008 – Lexington, KY: Students Raise Some Dough for PRF!

Children at Zach Pickard’s school raised $600 for PRF by holding a Bake Sale. Many thanks to Ms. Laura and Ms. Lora who organized the students, and the kids and their parents who baked and bought!
