December 2007: Michigan High School Helpers Go to Highest BidderAfter meeting Lindsay at the Miles for Miracles walk-a-thon in 2007, Kate of Grosse Ile, MI got the senior student council to help. Each year the group does a fundraiser for a chosen charity, and this year students decided to auction off each other - as helpers - to benefit PRF! Underclassmen bid on seniors to carry their books and bring them lunch, raising $300 – twice as much as last year! Thank you, students, for putting yourselves on the auction block for children with Progeria.

Team “G-Unit” Competes For PRF in “The Challenge of Champions”In December 2007, Employees of Viva International Group of Somerville, NJ, a company that manufactures designer eyewear, participated in a week-long community service project called “The Challenge of Champions”. The company was split into 9 teams, each competing in a series of challenges from a tug-o-war contest to a companywide scavenger hunt. The team who earned the most points was to be awarded the grand prize of $1,000 for their chosen charity. Due to the tremendous response and team spirit of this event, each team was able to give their charities a donation. Thanks G-Unit, for your team spirit!

International Miracle Makers - PRF Continues to Go Global!Spreading the Word in Spain
Big Heart in the Outback Daniel, a 10 year old boy from Queensland Australia, saw a television program on Progeria, and knew right away what he wanted to do: Every year Daniel saves up some money to donate to charity, and after learning about Progeria, he sent PRF $60 for the clinical drug trial. We hope other boys and girls follow your example, Daniel, and we’ll reach our $2 million goal in no time!
Holiday Wishes from Portugal
After hearing about Progeria, Inês, from Lisbon, Portugal, decided she wanted to know more. So she read PRF’s website and was even more determined to help in some way! Ines and her friend Joana made beautiful holiday cards for the children in the clinical drug trial, and Inês has offered to be a volunteer Portuguese translator. Thanks to our new-found friends in Portugal! |

Peabody Student Continues to Collect for PRFWhen 14 year old Eric from Peabody, MA wasn’t able to participate in PRF’s 6th Annual International Race for Research, he found another way to help: Eric took up a collection and raised $100. This isn’t the first – or the last - time Eric has supported PRF. In 2006 he donated a portion of his Bar Mitzvah money, and he wants to continue to help. Rhode Island Boys Continue to Celebrate Birthdays for PRFFor the second year in a row, brothers Dylan and Orion celebrated their birthdays with one very special birthday wish - instead of gifts, they asked friends and family to donate to PRF. Actor “Jason” Makes a Not-So-Scary Gesture
Steve Dash, the actor who portrayed “Jason” in Friday the 13th Part 2, was very generous when approached by PRF supporter Al Baca. Steve sent signed bookplates for use in Al’s PRF eBay auctions, several autographed photos and even a cash donation! Steve has also been in other films like Nighthawks (with Sylvester Stallone), Sweet Liberty (with Alan Alda and Michael Caine), and Night Shift (with Michael Keaton and Henry Winkler). Thanks Steve, we’re glad you’re on our side when you take off the mask! |
