Enjoy these wonderful stories of creative and generous ways people are making a difference in the lives of children with Progeria.

Please join our ever-growing group of heroes. Working together in a variety of ways, we WILL find a cure!

May 2009 - Girls Turn Project into Fundraiser for PRF

Inspired by a documentary on Hayley of England, Lindsay and Sara of Woodland Christian High School chose to do their Biology project on Progeria. When they learned about PRF and the fundraising efforts for the clinical trial, they decided to help out. The girls organized a bake sale and sold handmade bracelets, raising $185! Now THAT’S a true learning experience - thanks Lindsay and Sara!

May 2009: Aunt Kira runs a “Marathon for Miles” in Newport Beach, CA

Kira Brady dedicated her Avia OC Marathon run to 2-year-old Miles, her god-nephew who has Progeria. Kyra is not only an athlete but also a teacher, and some of her 6th grade students held a bake sale to raise money for PRF as well, how nice! In her appeal for sponsors, Kira describes Miles as a bright, energetic, funny and loving boy who loves to dance, walk up and down the subway steps, and learning every new word he can. “It is Miles’ wonderful sprit, his kindness, his sense of humor and joy that define him in a way that his disease never will,” says Aunt Kira. We applaud Kira’s own spirit, kindness and generosity, and congratulate her on crossing the finish line and raising over $5,000!

May 2009: Dining for PRF in Maryland

A warm thank you to Jennie Owens for organizing Dining for Dollars days at the Glory Days Grill where she works. The restaurant donated 10% of all food purchases for specific days. Jenny worked hard to promote the event, posting signs everywhere, emailing her family and friends, and telling customers about the fundraiser for weeks before. We love Jenny’s energy and enthusiasm that brought charity to her workplace!
